Tell a Story Day Dedicated to the many team members who contributed to this truly unique story!
Once upon a time there was a lonely person who lived on the moon…Who loved to eat cheese. How he got there and why is still a mystery. He landed with only a volleyball that he named Wilson, who became his bestie!
He was known to lose Wilson from time to time. Wilson liked to float away for you see, there was so much for Wilson to explore out in the cosmos. No matter where he traveled, though, his heart always yearned for his love. Wilson was in love with Polly Volleyball. He was just trying to float back to his first love. The man who lived on the moon was selfish and would not set Wilson free to follow his heart.
Sadly, Wilson did not know that Polly had been seeing Steve Soccer ball back home. He traveled back to his home planet intent on reuniting with his love, only to have his heart ripped out at the seams when he got there. He was deflated with the discovery.
The man on the moon vowed to avenge Wilson, but first he had to figure out how to get off the moon.
What Wilson and the man on the moon didn’t realize was that Polly wanted more. Wilson had suddenly vanished and she just wanted to be loved. Little did Polly know that Steve was living a double life. You see, although Steve was born a soccer ball, he identified as a beach ball and was secretly in love with Wilson. He wished desperately that he could trade his boring black and white pattern for brightly colored bands and float gracefully over the warm sand while children laughed below. Poor Polly. She loved Wilson Volleyball who abandoned her and then fell for Steve Soccer ball, who identifies as a Bright Beach ball, who is actually in love with her ex.
Soon Steve found an ally in the lonely man on the moon and Steve confided his deepest desire with him. On clear nights, Steve would arrange cones on the soccer field to form messages that the man on the moon would read with the special high powered binoculars he had fashioned out of thick moon glass.
The man on the moon turned his attentions away from revenge and instead gave his last bits of cheese as payment for a pair of aliens to fly to earth and pick up Steve to take back to the moon. So he could float as he had always dreamed. As they flew through a star, it painted Steve with bright colors of a beautiful bright galaxy. Steve was so grateful, he asked the aliens to make a stop at the Milky Way Creamery so he could pick up some cheese to repay the boy on the moon. It was the very least he could do. But when they arrived at the Creamery, they made a shocking discovery…THE SPACE COWS WERE MISSING!
Steve arrived at the moon wearing his new bright star colors and told the man on the moon the terrible news of the missing space cows. Together with Steve and the 2 aliens, the man on the moon was no longer lonely. They spent the next few space months together playing games and painting the moon the many colors of star dust, but they became more and more distraught about the space cows…for these cows produced the deepest darkest chocolate milk the universe had ever seen.
The man on the moon decided they could no longer stand idly by while the universe ran out of chocolate milk. So, he and Steve made a plan. A plan so daring, so death defying, that they could not in good conscience allow their gentle alien friends in on the plans. While Steve distracted the aliens with the swatches of color he could paint on the moon while bouncing around in low gravity, the man hotwired the spaceship and, while the aliens were busy painting, he and Steve took off in search of the missing space cows. The man no-longer on the moon had a hunch that the space cows had followed in the pigs’ footsteps. It would take courage, cunning and no small amount of luck to follow in the footsteps of pigs that actually fly.
The Mighty Hunter By Brittney Cox
It was a cool September morning; the sun was still in its slumber, but the hunter was pulling on his boots. His pack full of the necessary items, a lighter, knife, rope, water. He grabbed his rifle near the door and entered the cool brisk air and headed towards the mountain. The light crunch below his boots were the only noise filling the silence. After a few miles, he began to hear the creek trickling off in the distance, a landmark that ensured he was headed in the right direction. A slight light beginning to emerge from behind him, the sun was beginning to stretch its rays across the land and with each reach, awakening life within the forest. He continued forward breathing in slowly the smell of the damp pines and the musk of the creatures that had previously bedded there.
As he made it to his destination, he pulled his pack from his shoulder and laid it beneath a large oak. He sat, leaned against the same tree, laying his riffle across his bent knee. He was now surrounded by the life of the forest; birds were chattering to each other from the towering trees, squirrels leaping from limb to limb in an effortless acrobatic way. The sun stretching its rays through the trees, kissing the forest floor below as it rose higher and higher.
Sitting silently, observing the life around him move was almost better than the hunt itself. Watching the trees sway and groan, moving with the earth, something most passersby are moving too quickly to experience. Light crunching from his left, a doe emerged from the thick brush, slow and alert. She stared straight at him. Her breath visible from her nostrils in the cool air, floating up into nothing. He kept still, watching her determine whether he was a threat. She made another step forward, deciding it safe to move on and began grazing on the dew-covered grass. Two spotted fawns came leaping out from where the doe had exited trotted next to their mother. The hunter sat there quietly, watching them feed on through the opening and eventually re-entering the dense forest.
The hunter lowered his hat, shielding his eyes from the ever-rising sun when suddenly, the chatter of the birds had stopped, there were no longer squirrels scurrying through the trees. Cracklings of twigs being crushed echoed through the forest, filling the silence. The hunter reached into his pack, grabbing his knife, placing it in his pocket as the eerie crunching approached closer and closer. He glanced up in the direction of the sounds and there appeared the great brute of a bear; its beady eyes scanning the area, deep scars crossed his face from previous battles. His ears were tattered and looked tiny upon his giant muscular head. The bear was seemingly black but when the sun hit his long fur, it glistened a deep brown. You could see his back legs swinging out the outer sides of his body and his belly hanging near the forest floor. He carried a large hump between his shoulders that swayed ever so slowly with each step he took. The bear was grunting and snapping his jaw, for he knew there was an outsider occupying his area.
Raising his rifle slowly from his knee, the hunter placed the bear through his sites and slowly pulled his trigger. Although placed in the center of this giant’s chest, the impact of the bullet seemed to only cause a wave of fur and fat, for the bear turned his head directly towards the direction of what had stung him and let out a ground shaking roar. The hunter quickly pulled the bolt of his rifle back releasing the empty casing and injecting another bullet into the barrel. He let another bullet fly, again the bear continued his way towards him, as though the hunter had merely thrown a rock his direction. Again, the hunter pulled his bolt back, the empty casing slightly smoking as it flew to the ground, he injected another. Hitting the bear for the third time straight in the chest to no avail.
The hunter raised himself quickly from his sitting position and the collision of man and beast erupted through the silence. The giant jaws of the beast enclosed around the center of the hunter’s rifle as he held with his might, as a barrier between himself and the angry teeth. The hunter could hear the shattering of his scope glass, the crunching of wood and metal as the bear was clenching down on his strongest weapon; that this animal took as a mere bee sting. He was being pushed backwards by the force of bear, no matter how hard he dug his boots into the ground, the earth gave way to the creature’s strength. Until it was between two narrow trees, the hunter jumped back between, and the rifle was caught between the two, stopping the bear, but for only a moment. Enough time that the hunter was able to grab the knife he had placed in his pocket. One final collision and both great hunters lay motionless on the forest ground.
It is said the hunter and bear still fight over the mountain, each trying to claim the land as their own. Hunters have claims of hearing the roars of the bear and the hunter, and being pulled from the area by their packs, claims that the spirit of the hunter tries to protect them from the violent spirit of the bear. There have also been claims of harvested bears being pulled away on flat ground from where hunters are trying to break down their game as the spirit of the bear tries to reclaim its kin to the forest. Both mighty hunters, fighting atop the mountain forever.
Pigs Can't Look Up Contributed By Rick Campos
Pigs can’t look up. But I could pick a pig up one night and raise it into the sky and tilt this pig ever so gentle. I can make sure this pigs eyes line up with the stars. Imagine seeing the stars for the first time. I want to be treated that kindly and see the stars for the first time.By, Vincent D’Onofrio

Setting SMART GOALS:
S – Specific
When setting a goal, be specific about what you want to accomplish. Think about this as the mission statement for your goal. This isn’t a detailed list of how you’re going to meet a goal, but it should include an answer to the popular ‘w’ questions:
- Who – Consider who needs to be involved to achieve the goal.
- What – Think about exactly what you are trying to accomplish and don’t be afraid to get very detailed.
- When – You’ll get more specific about this question under the “time-bound” section of defining SMART goals, but you should at least set a time frame.
- Where – This question may not always apply, especially if you’re setting personal goals, but if there’s a location or relevant event, identify it here.
- Which – Determine any related obstacles or requirements. This question can be beneficial in deciding if your goal is realistic. For example, if the goal is to open a baking business, but you’ve never baked anything before, that might be an issue. As a result, you may refine the specifics of the goal to be “Learn how to bake in order to open a baking business.”
- Why – What is the reason for the goal?
M – Measurable
What metrics are you going to use to determine if you meet the goal? This makes a goal more tangible because it provides a way to measure progress. Set some milestones by considering specific tasks to accomplish.
A – Achievable
This focuses on how important a goal is to you and what you can do to make it attainable and may require developing new skills, habits and changing attitudes. The goal is meant to inspire motivation, not discouragement. Think about how to accomplish the goal and if you have the tools/skills needed. If you don’t currently possess those tools/skills, consider what it would take to attain them.
R – Relevant
Relevance refers focusing on something that makes sense with the broader goals. The goal should be something that’s in alignment with your overall objectives.
T – Time-Bound
Anyone can set goals, but if it lacks realistic timing, chances are you’re not going to succeed. Providing a target date is imperative. Ask specific questions about the goal deadline and what can be accomplished within that time period. If the goal will take three months to complete, it’s useful to define what should be achieved half-way through the process. Providing time constraints also creates a sense of urgency.
The Easiest Way to Write SMART Goals
When it comes to writing SMART goals, be prepared to ask yourself and your support a lot of questions. The answers will help fine-tune your strategy, ensuring the goals are something that’s actually attainable. While you should be as realistic as possible, it’s important to approach writing SMART goals with a positive attitude. After all, this is something that you want to achieve.
